The creative arts workshops are devoted to fostering creativity through participation in and appreciation of the visual arts.

Creative Inspirations began trading in 2006. The workshop facilitator, Chris Cimini, has several years experience co-ordinating events of this nature, with a voluntary organization called Jammin. Formed in 2000, Jammin has performed in over 200 different locations and environments. Due to the positive response and feedback from these workshops Creative Inspirations was formed.

Chris comes from a musical and creative background. He has developed a particular interest in percussion and djembe drums, he plays a range of different instruments and he has played in a number of bands. His experience and skills in this field contribute towards an accessible, varied and enjoyable occasion for all ages and abilities.

We have a (20 foot wide, by either 40 foot, 30 foot or 20 foot long, and 16 foot high) Marquee, a generator and a 1-and-a-half-k sound system, available for hire.

Creative Inspirations provides drums from all different countries, cultures and communities from around the World. The majority of drums we use are called djembe drums and they come from Africa. They are made from hard woods such as mahogany or teak. Traditionally the instrument is hand carved and a goat or antelope skin is tied with rope for the drumhead.

We also have several doumbek's, which originate from the middle east. The shell of this drum is made from metal and/or clay and the drumhead is typically made of plastic or synthetic fibers.

We also have a set of congas from South America, which were probably made from salvaged barrels. Most modern congas have a staved wooden or fiberglass shell and a screw-tensioned drumhead.

Drumming is a very primitive and tribal past time. It has a long and proud history. Its traditions are passed on from generation to generation. In many African communities rhythms are played during gatherings, ceremonies and celebrations. Rhythm is evidence of a rich musical history, and is seen as a main building block behind most if not all music.

Creative Inspirations are influenced by several different rhythms including: traditional African rhythm, samba rhythms from Brazil. Latina and salsa from Cuba, modern day rhythms and traditional grooves.
